You Can Call Me Granny :)

Today is full of fun!

First:

It's true, it's true!  I have reached granny status :)  Just goes to show, you can be a grandma at 29 :)  Our first grandchild, Annabelle, arrived yesterday afternoon, 7 lbs. 7 oz., and perfect in every way!  Mother and baby are doing well.  Here she is:

Second:

I have been featured in the August Author Spotlight on What's Up Sippy Cup (good timing, no?)  Please pop over and enjoy their site, full of all kinds of great information for expectant parents as well as parents of babies, toddlers, and preschoolers (including such helpful nuggets as DON'T feed them chocolate pudding and cream before their first birthday! - OK, not really, but that could be there...)  To read the author spotlight interview, go here and scroll about halfway down the page.

Third:

It is apparently National Book Week (who knew?) and Face Book has a game that I'm borrowing and altering slightly because it's fun.  Here are the rules:

Pick up the book you are currently reading.  Go to page 56.  Copy the 5th sentence on that page in your comment below just for fun.  Do not mention the title or author (but if anyone has guesses, by all means guess!)  Here's mine:

"We listen to Dr. Dre and Tupac, and then we blast "Baby Got Back" and all sing along."

I have to say, that is by far the shortest, least informative sentence on that page!  The 4 before it are so long that that one is half way down!

So, share your sentence, check out What's Up Sippy Cup, and feel free to leave comments on cute baby picture!  Have a great Monday!

  1. Congrats on 1st. What a little sweetie with pinchable cheeks.

Way to go on 2nd, very timely indeed.

Third sounds like fun. I have no idea what book it's from. Do you plan to post the answer?

Here's mine: The flyers with the lists of symptoms had appeared, plastered all over school, and it seemed as if everyone visited the nurse's office complaining of headaches and muscle cramping and fever.

  2. Congratulations, "granny"!

The fifth sentence on page 56 of the book I'm reading is...okay, there was no fifth sentence. There are only 2 1/2 sentences on this page. Is it okay if I break the rules? Here's the 2nd sentence: "Those people are bald because that's just the way the DNA dice rolled out."

  3. Congrads. So sweet and kissable. MWAH!

Here is my sentence: The old dirt road led to a block of trees one way, which I guessed was Keyra Forest.

Wondering what book yours is from. Do tell! :-)

  4. OMG, congrats! I'm in shock! Had no idea grandma-hood was anywhere in your near future! But that is SO exciting Susanna! And Anabelle is BEAUTIFUL!

  5. Congratulations, Grandma Susanna! When Mem Fox became a Grandma, oh, we didn't hear much from her for a while. Thank you for sharing the beautiful picture, I bet she smells so good!
    p.56, 5th sentence:
"In some dishes, for example gumbo, the gum is appreciated as a thickener, but in other recipes, the pods are cooked whole, with just the tough tips of the stalks removed, to prevent the gum from making the dishes slimy."

  6. Welcome to beautiful Annabelle! Congratulations to new Granny Susanna.
    p.56, sentence 5:
    "What girlfriend?"

  7. Congratulations, Susanna! How exciting. And yes, I definitely wouldn't have you thought old enough to be a grandmother. But pictures do lie... ;-)

I've been blessed with two new nieces recently, born four weeks apart. They've been making me very clucky, but I can't give away my 'me time' to become a Mum just yet! And considering I'm thinking about going back to uni (part time) next year, who knows when I'll be ready!

Oh, and the fifth line of the page of the book I'm currently reading is: "The stories fell severage pages apart and I wondered whether anyone but me would think to link them." Like yours, all the other sentences on the page are much more informative!

  8. Thank you everyone for all the nice comments and congratulations! Annabelle gets more beautiful every day, but I promise I will try not to cover the entire blog with pictures of her all the time :)

Natasha - I feel like I should know your book... it sounds vaguely familiar. Something MG or YA?

Andrea - I have NO idea - so few sentences sounds like a picture book but that sentence wouldn't fit in one!

Robyn - yours sounds like maybe a MG fantasy? But I don't know it...

    Corey - aren't you reading anything :)

Jenny - that sounds like a cookbook!

Teri - "What gilfriend?" - really I can't even begin to guess with so little info!

Cally - maybe a detetive/thriller novel where someone is trying to figure something out? But I don't know it.

Mine was from Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver which is terrific so far and I highly recommend!

  9. You're pretty close, Susanna. My quote is from The Fix by Nick Earls. I can't recommend it yet, because I haven't had time to read past the first page. But if it's anything like the rest of Nick's work, I'm sure I'll love it - he's a favourite of mine.

And I adored Before I Fall. I reviewed it on my blog a few months if you're interested in sharing views once you're finished. :-)

  10. Definitely, Cally, that would be fun :)

  11. Not necessarily a cookbook. I started doing a work share at a local organic farm. For four hours of work on Saturday mornings June-October, (and time away from this house), I get a box of beautiful vegetables! I am reading The Farmers' Market Guide to Vegetables-selecting, Preparing, & Cooking by Bridget Jones.

  12. Awww, welcome to Annabelle, and congrats to you, Susanna! She's beautiful.

I don't have my book next to me, only my Kindle and I can't tell the page numbers on that. Darn.

  13. Congratulations! What a snuggly baby.

  14. Theresa - isn't she just? I'm trying very hard to fight it, but I may have to post just one or two more pictures :)
