Perfect Picture Book Friday - Not So Much

Well, darlings, I warned you it would probably happen and it has.

Perfect Picture Book Friday has arrived and I have not managed to cobble a post together.

That is because I am in Ohio, where technically they do have books but I haven't had one single second to read any.

I have become Even More Educated in many aspects of going to college, though, so it "ain't been in vain fer nothin'" (bonus points to anyone who can tell me what movie that line comes from :))

I'm going to post the link list so all you wonderful dedicated types can put your books up and we can all come see what you picked.

And then I'm going to go have a serious talk with that Jo-Jilly (my direction-challenged GPS) who thought it would be very entertaining to get us to Ohio by way of West Virginia and much driving through tunnels under mountains.  Seriously.  I am not making that up.  And now we have to start heading back east and I don't want to do it by way of Japan.  Hence the talk.  Although I don't have much hope.  That Jo-Jilly is maddeningly unresponsive to talks!  It's like she doesn't hear a word I say. :)

Have a great weekend, everyone! :)

  1. linky list, linky list, where art thou? mmm... well I looked everywhere but I just can't see it... maybe I need to clean my glasses... *giggles* :) (it wouldn't be a first time something isn't right under my nose...lol.)
I love your GPS Susanna, I talk to mine all the time..haha, maybe they might know each other...lol.

You are entitled to a bit of a vacation you know. Aren't those satnavs a piece of work lol?

  3. Is it from Li'l Abner? I'm so sorry your GPS has let you down and that your trip took a detour. EnJOY the scenery along the way and we'll see you back next week!

  4. You are so funny! Take good care and come home safe. Why are you in OHIO? Still checking colleges? I thought you were invincible. :)

  5. don't forget to drop by Oberlin... if yer GPS can't find it, I can recite directions blindfolded. As for GPS - we tried it on a rental car - to get home - and it directed us to a road that doesn't exist.... we've tried to tell Map quest & google maps but they don't seem to hear us.

  6. I happen to be an expert on The Ohio State University, if that was on your tour (or anything about southern ohio...cow tipping, pig calling, guinea pig showing, etc). Feel free to hit me with questions!

  7. It sounds like you probably drove right by my inlaws' house. Wave for me, and enjoy your trip.

  8. You are probably passing me on freeways. You took 77. Pretty drive but a lot of construction when you hit Ohio. Have a great day.

  9. That is too funny, Susanna! We are in the college search mode now as well, although it sounds like you have found yours. We had an issue with our rented GPS system on a trip down to Texas last year. I renamed it, "EverLost"!

  10. As it turns out, I'm also on the road...I think we passed each by in West Virginia; was it almost heaven for you too? ;)

My trip is less fun as it's funeral-related, but I also heard from the lovely Laura Galvin and am very excited. :)

  11. You are very thoughtful, Susanna, to set up the linky list for us. :) I certainly don't miss those college-visit days...back in the Stone Age when we were taking our kids, there were no GPS'...we used a 'trip-tik' from AAA...which sometimes had one feeling like it was AA that had mapped out the route. :) But West Virginia IS quite beautiful...as long as you don't really have to get anywhere and can take your time enjoying the scenic mountains. :) Be safe!

  12. So hope Jo-Lilly picked up her game for the return trip!!

  13. I cheated and Googled "ain't been in vain fer nothin'" because I was curious! Singin In The Rain??? Is Google right?

    Hope Jilly-Jo got you home!

  14. I do not love my GPS Diane. She is naughty. Very, very naughty! :) Glad you found the list!

  15. Yes, those satnavs certainly are! And vacation? What's that? :)

    ReplyDelete
  16. No, not L'il Abner... :) Keep guessing! :) And thanks for the advice. I'm not wild about tunnels underneath mountains, but there was some other nice scenery :)

  17. I'm glad you find my predicament amusing, Clar :) You wouldn't if you had to put up with that Jo-Jilly! :) And yes, I'm back in Ohio in hopes of helping my son make up his mind about college - it's a big decision.

  18. We went to Oberlin on the last trip, but not this time - it's not on the final decision list :( As for GPS, mapquest etc, sometimes I think they're all a scam! I've managed to get bad directions from them all... although I suppose there's a common denominator here... and maybe it's not their fault :)

  19. No Ohio State for us, but I am VERY interested in all those things you're mentioning... perhaps a blog post on entertainment in southern Ohio is called for :)

  20. I think I could give the tours at about 40 colleges, Julie... but not west of Ohio - you'll have to come East if you want the full benefit of my hard-earned wisdom :) As for Jo-Jilly in a Clementime-wanna-be I'll have to think on that... I like the idea! :)

  21. Oh wow! Where do they live? Near tunnels in Wet Virginia? :)

    ReplyDelete
  22. Oh, wow! Really? We WERE on 77! I wish I'd known how close you were!

  23. We're down to the Final Four (very appropriate for this week :)) Where are you at? And Ever Lost is an excellent name! i think Jo-Jilly is related! :)

  24. Given that I didn't think we had any business being in West Virginia, I can't say it was almost heaven, but you sure made me laugh with that comment. I'm sorry you were on the road for a sad reason - wouldn't it have been fun if we could have waved to each other though! And YAY! I can't wait to hear how it went with Laura!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  25. You know, actually, she did pretty well. We got home, anyway :)

    ReplyDelete
  26. I know it. I've gotten spoiled by GPS - even Jo-Jilly - and my pitiful map-reading skills - never much good to begin with - have pretty much faded into oblivion. Heaven help me if I actually had to find my way somewhere! :)

    ReplyDelete
  27. Yes, Jo-Jilly managed to get us home, thank goodness, with a few kicks in the hindquarters from yours truly :) and yes you are right! it is Singin' In The Rain, one of my all-time favorite movies on earth and if you haven't seen it you must! :)

  28. I hope so too. I think I was asleep :) JK. It was very enlightening and seems to have convinced #4 that he wants to go somewhere else :)
